This is a glorious area for a holiday with something for everyone - from toddlers to grandparents. Fordingbridge recreation ground, beside the River Avon has swings, slides and a sand pit, or there are sandy beaches and windswept cliffs only 20 miles away. Fishing and pony trekking are available even closer.

The beautiful, rolling hills of Dorset and Cranborne Chase are close by, and the unspoiled tracts of the New Forest are on the doorstep. The historic cities of Salisbury, Winchester and Portsmouth are within easy reach and many country houses in the area offer a wealth of interest to historians and artists. There could hardly be a happier hunting ground for archaeologists – the countryside is full of ancient remains, Stonehenge is nearby, and there is a Roman villa just one mile down the road from Plum Tree Cottage.

Sandleheath Post Office and store is half a mile away from the cottage, whilst Fordingbridge with a full range of shops is two miles away.
